Travel to St.Vincent and the Grenadines
The day had finally arrived, Saturday the 5th of August, had it only been two years?? Because it felt more like a decade. My long awaited flight, thank God had not been cancelled, and was on schedule to leave at 9:45, on the well-known Caribbean Airline. So excited was I to enter the departure lounge, that I ran into a of couple people. I had always loved airports, the beauty in hellos and goodbyes, the hustle and the bustle, that feeling of anticipation, and the crowds of anxious people. As I began to board my flight, I had the most intense butterflies, because my desired destination, was a mere 30 minute flight. Before I could finish the last chapter of my novel, we were landing at the E.T Joshua Airport, and immediately that warm feeling enveloped me, as that all too familiar scenery overwhelmed me, and my second home was finally within reach. As I made my way through immigration, and to the happy familiar faces Known as family who awaited me, my mind raced as to what I wanted to do first. As I drove into the country, I was breath taken by the views around me, as if I was seeing it all again for the very first time, from the mountains high above me, to the ocean in the far off distance. Around and around we go through the winding roads, But I could not settle in without first making a stop at the village bakery. Oh how I have missed these mouthwatering treats, from the freshly baked bread to the delicious pastries like “red belly.” It’s the next day and I’m ready to hit the popular Villa beach, just but one of this island’s pristine beaches, and of course in the distance, the coveted Young Island. The following days seem like a blur, as I share precious moments with family members, and take in all this beautiful country I have grown to love so much has to offer. But I must say, if you ever do have the privilege of visiting this hidden treasure, please do not leave without visiting the amazing restaurant known as French Verandah. As I prepare to depart, a mere two weeks later, that bittersweet feeling takes over, as once again I have to say tearful goodbyes, to familiar faces and this gem of an isle……. St. Vincent and the Grenadines….way more than what simply meets the eye.
Travel to Berlin Germany
As crowds of people swarmed past me I wondered if I was in a dream… There I was standing in the middle of Frankfurt International Airport, totally oblivious to all the noise around me, when I was jolted back abruptly by an airport employee, trying to figure out if I was lost. Lost I was indeed, as this was my first time travelling internationally. This airport seemed almost like an endless maze... But what was worse, was that the only words that I could comprehend were, hello, thank you and goodbye. So this kind gentleman was definitely a God send, and so nicely helped me find the counter to check in for my connecting flight. Before I knew it, I was seated comfortably aboard Air Berlin, steady on my way to Tegel. The hour flew by as we flew over the quaintest houses I’d ever seen, It was all so new, so intriguing... but before I could drift away in my thoughts once again, the pilot roared over the intercom, prepare for landing! I quickly made my way to getting my luggage, so happy I was to have finally made it to my destination. And as I walked through the doors of the airport and saw my mother, it couldn’t have been better. The first thing I noticed??….the architecture…it was breathtaking!!! Never in my life had I seen such beautifully designed buildings, so tall I had to strain my neck to see the top of them, And the people? So focused were they on their destinations, I don’t believe they even noticed you were there. Ahh the feeling of antiquity, I think that’s what I loved right away. The weather? Now that was a different story… But who could complain with cute cafes and restaurants on every corner, And beautiful parks where you could walk for hours?? And the ice cream??!? Omg it was to die for!! The next two weeks were magical, from the countless shopping trips, to visiting the famous Tropical Islands, And the food? Who could complain, doner kebab was spectacular! Europe was all I had ever dreamed of, and that’s exactly why this trip felt like a beautiful dream. I couldn’t have asked for more, from riding a train for the first time, And trying frozen yogurt….. but it soon all came to an end, like it was all a blur, and it was time to say goodbye, goodbye to those breathtaking buildings, To those unforgettable train rides… And a million new experiences to last a lifetime. Enjoy a few pics from my Berlin trip below!
How to find a great Airbnb
Whether you are an Airbnb veteran, or a newcomer to the world of Airbnb, take this journey with me as I share some tips that you can use in your next Airbnb search!
Firstly, filters, filters, filters; Airbnb has a number of filters that you can use to find exactly what you are looking for, in terms of type of accommodation, amenities etc. When you begin your search, use these filters to narrow down your search and save yourself some valuable time.
Secondly, when you begin your search, make sure to select "Super host" as one of your filters. This is VERY important to make sure that you are choosing a place and host that comes highly recommended. On this note, please read reviews from previous guests to make sure you are making the best choice possible.
Thirdly, location, location, location! Please bear in mind when you are choosing an Airbnb, you make sure that where you will be staying is convenient to places you will want or need to get to, especially if you will be taking public transportation.
Next, safety. Please research the neighbourhood or area where your Airbnb is located to verify that you will be comfortable and at ease; this is vital.
Finally, as for any trip, try to plan in advance if possible so you can secure the Airbnb you would like, and also possibly get the best rate. Finding a great Airbnb can sometimes take a bit of research, but it's worth it to have the best possible stay. I hope these tips help you guys out; feel free to share and leave a comment below. Also, enjoy a few photos from my first trip using Airbnb! Happy Travels!!
How to save money on your next trip
As most travel lovers would know, most airlines charge a fee to check a suitcase but have you ever thought how you could save that money? I mean who doesn't need some extra spending money? Well here's a hack, pack carry on only! Yes I said it, pack smarter not necessarily lighter. Pack what you need, pack neatly and those empty containers you have lying around the house, put them to use. Place your liquids, gels and aerosols in smaller containers to meet the requirement for what is allowed in your carry on luggage. My second tip would be to take a back pack as your carry on item, you will be amazed at how many things you can fit into it, and you can even pack extra clothes! Your carry on suitcase and backpack, is the perfect combination to save you both time and money. Moreover, if you are a solo traveller, this makes your trip ten times easier rather than having to lug around a heavy suitcase, especially if you are travelling to a city where you will be taking public transportation; New York would be a great example of this. My third and final tip for saving those coins on your next trip, would be to book two one-way tickets rather than a round trip ticket, if this works for your intended trip. Often, purchasing your tickets separately from my personal experience, can really save you money, and again who doesn't need extra spending money?!? Well, those are my tips guys. If you have any other tips and would like to share, feel free to leave a comment below, and also tell me which of these tips you like best. Bon Voyage!!
Travelling from Berlin to Prague on FlixBus
Coming from a small island in the Caribbean, travelling to an entirely different country on a bus, in just a matter of hours was an extremely foreign concept. As I awaited the arrival of FlixBus on a cold Saturday morning, I literally could not contain my excitement. Soon our bus had arrived on time, and I was relaxed in my seat ready for this new adventure. As the hours went by, I admired the beautiful scenery on our journey and I still could not believe I was on my way to new country in a bus! I was reminded though that I was, when we were stopped for passport inspection. The hours flew by as I enjoyed the sights on the way, and of course the free WiFi provided by Flixbus! Soon we had arrived in Prague and it was time to explore this magical city. If you have never considered travelling by bus, my advice is, go for it! FlixBus is an amazing way to explore new countries and cities at an affordable rate. What I liked most about FlixBus: -Affordable -Comfortable seating -Drinks and snacks available onboard -Free WiFi So why not try them today, the FlixBus way!
